what can i see and experience as a visitor?

Von 01 bis 21. Juni 2026 gibt es in Boden täglich etwas zu sehen. Das Programm findet ihr auf der Website im Raster Timetable. Die Eröffnung findet am Samstag den 6. Juni 2026 in ganz Boden statt. Folgt uns auch auf den Sozialen Medien, denn es gibt immer wieder spontane Aktionen, die wir nur dort ankündigen.

how much do the events cost?

Alle Veranstaltungen sind kostenlos. Wir wollen die Schwelle uns zu besuchen niedrig halten und allen ermöglichen sich ein Bild zu machen. Freiwillige Spenden werden natürlich gern entgegengenommen. Mit eurer Spende unterstützt und fördert ihr die medienfrische sowie die eingeladenen Künstler*innen. Unter dem Raster Spenden findet ihr weitere Infos.

what are the we-guide-you-TOURS?

Führungen, geleitet vom Team der medienfrische, durch das Festival und das Dorf. Die Touren geben tiefe Einblicke in den Dorfaltag, die Arbeiten des Festivals und der Künstler*innen. Die Führungen werden gegen freiwillige Spenden durchgeführt und dauern zwischen einer und zwei Stunden. Die Touren sind wie ein lockerer Spaziergang organisiert und nicht anstrengend.

How do I get into the valley and how do I get out again?

Es gibt verschiedene öffentliche Verkehrsanbindungen. Mehr dazu findet ihr unter dem Punkt Anfahrt und auf der Seite des VVT. Es ist bei uns noch keine*r gestrandet. Es fahren immer wieder privat PKWs ins Lechtal und Inntal. Schauen wir aufeinander. Autostopper werden gern mitgenommen und sollte man doch mal hängen bleiben, steht unser Team gern für eine Fahrt bereit.

Can I stay overnight with you?

Natürlich. Es gibt genügen Schlafmöglichkeiten. Vor allem die Bergheimat in Boden und das pabulariu. Es gibt auch Unterkünfte in Bschlabs und Elmen. Erwähnt bei der Buchung, dass ihr die medienfrische besucht und je nach Buchungslage wird‘s dann auch etwas billiger. does my art have to stay in the town?

Deine Kunst ist deine Arbeit und damit dein Eigentum. Die Idee der medienfrische ist es jedoch, dass etwas im Ort zurückgelassen bzw. ein Geschenk für das Tal hinterlassen wird. Die Arbeiten können in unserem Kunstspeicher bleiben, aus dem im besten Fall in den nächsten Jahren ein Museum entsteht. Außerdem kommt es immer wieder vor, dass wir arbeiten der Vorjahre ausstellen oder zugänglich machen. Dies geschieht natürlich nur mit eurem Einverständnis.

can i arrive by car?

Ja, selbstverständlich. Es kann sogar von Vorteil sein, wenn einige Künstler*innen mit dem Auto anreisen. Diese könnten dann von Zeit zu Zeit in den nächsten Ort (zum Supermarkt) fahren und z.B. denjenigen, die weniger mobil sind, etwas zu essen mitbringen. Da wir sehr auf unsere Umwelt bedacht sind, empfehlen wir jedoch die Anreise mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln.

can i bring my children with me?

In Ausnahmefällen und mit vorheriger Absprache ist dies sicher möglich. Vor allem Alleinerzieher*innen wollen wir entgegenkommen. Leider können wir keine Kinderbetreuung mehr zur Verfügung stellen. Dazu fehlen uns die Mittel. Die medienfrische kann weder Kosten noch Haftung für die Kinder übernehmen. Generell freuen wir uns aber natürlich, wenn Kinder ihre Eltern begleiten wollen.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, no animals or pets are allowed in any of our accommodation. Exceptions are possible, for example in the Bergheimat. However, this leads to increased costs, which must be paid by the participants themselves.

is it possible to take part with little or no knowledge of german?

Yes of course. Wir sprechen neben Deutsch auch Englisch und teilweise Französisch, Slowakisch und Spanisch. Und wir sind auch sehr gut mit Händen und Füßen. Das Antragsformular finden Sie unter open call also in English.

ist es gefährlich im Tal oder in Boden?

No. But! We are in the high mountains at 1,400 metres surrounded by nature. Temperatures and the weather can change extremely quickly. Common sense is an important thing and if you are unsure, it is better to ask exactly how you should behave in the high mountains.

Where can I shop?

Es gibt keine Geschäfte im Bschlabertal. Die nächsten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten befinden sich in Imst oder im Lechtal in Elmen und den Nachbargemeinden. Die nächste Apotheke befindet sich in Imst, Elbigenalp und Holzgau. Die nächste Tankstelle befindet sich in Häselgehr und Imst. Wir fahren immer wieder in diese Ortschaften und können euch benötigte Sachen besorgen.

What can I do with the Lechtal-Card?

On arrival you will receive the Lechtal Card, which is valid in your name for the duration of your stay. With this card you can use local public transport free of charge. Please check the bus times on the notice boards in the villages. The app or the website of the VVT (Verkehrsverbund Tirol) can also be used.
With the card, bicycles can also be hired for a small fee. You can also use certain mountain lifts free of charge. You can find everything else about the card on the website of our partner TVB Lechtal

what can i see as a visitor or spectator and when should i come?

From 01 - 22 June 2025, there will be something to see on the ground every day. You can find the programme on the website under event calendar. You will also find the programme on our flyers and at our partners' premises. Follow us on social media, as there are always spontaneous events that we only announce there.

how much do the events cost?

Most of the events are free of charge. Especially in rural areas, we want to create a low-threshold cultural programme that encourages participation and reflection. However, we do ask for voluntary donations. At the cinema, we recommend a donation of €5 per film screening. With your donation, you support and promote medienfrische and the invited artists.

What are the we-guide-you guided tours?

There are individual guided tours of the festival by the medienfrische team. These provide in-depth insights into village life, the work of the festival and the artists. The tours are organised for voluntary donations and last around 3 hours. The tours are organised like a relaxed walk and are not strenuous.
We offer guided tours for institutions, companies or families at your desired time. Please get in touch with daniel@medienfrische.com

How do I get into the valley and how do I get out again?

There are various public transport connections. You can find out more about this under "How to get here". No-one has ever been stranded with us. There are always private cars travelling to Lechtal and Inntal. Let's look at each other. Car hitchhikers are welcome and if you do get stuck, our team will be happy to give you a lift.

Can I stay overnight with you?

Of course. There are sleeping facilities in the Boden and Bschlabs districts. However, the number of beds is very limited. However, you will find plenty of places to sleep in neighbouring villages. When booking, mention that you are visiting the medienfrische and, depending on the booking situation, it will be a little cheaper. You can find information on the tourism association's website and on our website at opencall/accommodation.

faq's for artists

does my art have to stay in the town?

Your art remains your work and therefore your property. However, the idea of medienfrische is that something is left behind in the village or a gift for the valley. The works are to remain in the art storehouse in Bschlabs, which in the best-case scenario will become a museum in the next few years. The content is therefore already there and should form the foundation stone for a possible building in the future.

can i arrive by car?

Yes, of course. It would even be an advantage if some artists travelled by car. They could then drive to the nearest town (to the supermarket) from time to time and, for example, bring something to eat for those who are less mobile. However, as we are very mindful of our environment, we recommend travelling by public transport.

can i bring my children with me?

This is certainly possible in exceptional cases. We want to accommodate single parents in particular. Unfortunately, we cannot provide children with their own rooms. Everything the child needs must be paid for by the parents themselves. The children can eat with us - the catering costs amount to €20 per child per day. For cost reasons, we have had to discontinue day care for children. medienfrische cannot assume any costs or liability for the children.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, of course. We speak English and some French and Spanish. And we are also very good with our hands and feet. You can find the application form at open call also in English.

Is it dangerous in the Bschlabertal?

Where can I shop?

There are no shops or service providers in Bschlabertal. The nearest shops are in Imst or in the Lech Valley in Elmen and the neighbouring communities. The nearest pharmacy is in Imst, Elbigenalp and Holzgau. The nearest petrol station is in Häselgehr. We always travel to these villages and can get you the things you need.
